Páncreas Artificial: personas con diabetes pronto dirán adiós a las agujas

Since 2015, when the Spanish Start-up Medicsen was created, the idea of providing a solution for patients with diabetes was born. Since then, its founder Eduardo W. Jørgensen and his team have worked on the development of a device that improves the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic diseases.

The created device, which has been called "artificial pancreas", is characterized by not causing pain as it does not contain needles. The way it uses to deliver drugs is through the emission of harmless waves that increase the size of the natural pores of the skin allowing the entry of macromolecules such as insulin.

This device also has software that predicts glucose levels, provides advice and solves related concerns, and hardware, which is the patch-type device that delivers medications through the pores of the skin

The founder of Medicsen indicates that the intellectual property associated with the “artificial pancreas” technology has been duly protected, which will allow him to strategically use his rights over the technology. In addition, it reveals that it is expected to start the validations with humans at the end of 2021, once the studies that are being carried out with animals have been completed.
